Update on Proposed Speed Humps

I am happy to announce that DelDot has provided the final draft of the 10 proposed speed humps for Henlopen, Diamond and Binstead St. As you may recall, These streets were identified by residents, DelDot and our representatives as streets of concern due to the reported speeding and inattentive driving incidents. These have been reviewed by the KCA Officers and deemed as being appropriately placed and beneficial for our residents.

What’s next? DelDot will send ballots to residents shortly where we will need to obtain at least a 15% response rate and 2/3 of respondents must be in favor of the speed humps. We will continue to keep you informed as to when these are mailed to ensure you don’t miss this important mailing.

Please let us know if you have any thoughts regarding this proposal as we will need to reply to DelDot by the end of the week if possible.

In regard to other traffic calming measures, we are still in progress and could use your thoughts and suggestions.

1. We are able to apply for intersections to become all way stops if anyone has a specific location that would benefit from one. We completed this previously for Diamond and Binstead based on residents requests.

2. Electronic signs can be requested for other streets as well if warranted. We would not be adding to Henlopen or Binstead at this point as speed humps are slated for these streets.

3. Yard Signs – Thanks to everyone who has taken a sign from 2215 Diamond St (or the Easter Egg Hunt) and displayed it. There are still some left and we can always request more from DelDot. Education is key to us continuing to promote proper speeds within our neighborhood.

Thanks everyone for being part of such an awesome community!
