2026 planning is in the works!

Your KCA Officers have been busy planning for 2026 and even more recently assisting residents with the snow as we prepare to close out our first month of the new year.

The January 25th Snowstorm

To first address the snow, lets start with our positives – Our residents and their children took on supporting many of our residents with snow removal — thank you to all of them and thanks to those of you who supported those hard working kids and their dedicated parents during such a crazy time.

Now for the snow concerns – we know some residents were not pleased with the plowing as many streets are one lane due to large snow piles and one street could not even be fully plowed due to cars being parked too far into the street on either side.  Initially we were also very concerned as we have not seen the streets this way but as we researched, polled others and got on the roads ourselves, we found that what we are seeing, is the norm currently in our area vs the exception.   To put this in perspective, this is the largest storm we have seen in our neighborhood since January 2016 where we obtained 16 inches of snow.  Those out plowing were handling more snow than anyone has faced in 10 years while so many of us were snuggled up at home.

With this, we ask that everyone be patient, kind and assist your neighbors as we manage through these frigid temperatures and snow that is not melting fast enough.  We have notified the company who plowed for us as well of our concerns. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Kiamensi Officer Meeting Update

The Kiamensi Civic Association officers gathered in January to plan for 2026 where great ideas, as well as an unexpected change were discussed.

Unexpected Change:

Our KCA secretary who has served us since February 2017 is ready to step down from this role as she aspires to new heights. For those of who are not familiar with Jenn, she is single-handedly responsible for creating and maintaining our first ever website www.kiamensicivic.com, designing each years dues flyers, handling all meeting minutes, handling plow contract RFPs, creating blogs, taking great photos, donating hand crafted items and even partnering with her husband to help create our reusable event signs. Jenn has shared her amazing skills during her long tenure of secretary – big thanks to her!

If anyone is interested in supporting us as the new KCA Secretary, please reach out as we are hoping to engage someone by our February 18th meeting.  We have updated the responsibilities to make it not as daunting to anyone joining us:

Secretary Responsibilities:

  • Civic Association meeting organizer including: inviting local representatives, posting events to KCA site, FaceBook and Nextdoor, creating meeting agendas and meeting minutes
  • Dues Flyer creation and distribution (in partnership with KCA President)
  • Snow Plowing RFP & contract negotiations (in partnership with KCA Vice President)

  Great Ideas being Implemented:

  • Continue hosting our civic meetings at the Marshallton Inn and add in a 4th Quarter meeting for 2026 to keep us more connected through year end.
  • Host more events to engage all ages within and outside the community — our first is our free Valentines Day Pancake Breakfast as our way of helping to bring us together – whether you come alone, bring family, neighbors or friends  – it will be worth waking up early 😊

For more details – check this out: Kiamensi Pancake Breakfast

There will be more to come but for now, be sure to mark your calendar for our upcoming civic meeting on February 18th and even more importantly, join us before then on Saturday February 14th for our Valentines Pancake Breakfast.
