As mentioned in previous posts, several residents have been actively engaged with our representatives and DelDOT regarding the traffic concerns to identify what actions could be taken.
First of all, DelDOT delivered some yard signs which many were distributed at the Easter Egg Hunt last weekend. I have 10 remaining which we would love to distribute around the neighborhood. Please let me know if you are interested in one!
I am also happy to report we have initial feedback that while we failed the speed hump studies for our neighborhood, our representatives are working with us to identify some locations on Henlopen, Diamond and Binstead for a total of up to 10 speed bumps. We are currently reviewing their recommendations and will be having further discussions with DelDOT this week.
We are also assessing roads for additional measures like 4 way stops and radar signs but please be aware that we cannot be excessive in our requests. We have to be very thoughtful and deliberate to ensure these measures have the intended impact.
Please be aware that we are focused on areas of largest areas of concern based on those who have voiced their thoughts and opinions over some time. We are aware there may be other areas of concern in the neighborhood which we would be interested in learning about for additional phases. Please let me know by emailing [email protected] if you have specific concerns. I would appreciate knowing each of your opinions and how you think we can best work together to make things better for everyone.
As this progresses, ballots will be sent to residents to provide their support for the proposed speedhumps. Please show your support for our community and be sure to submit your ballot when the time comes.
Thanks again for being so engaged in our community. We all would like to do more so if you have any availability to assist, please reach out!
