While it has been cold and snow-covered here for the majority of February, it has not stopped our residents from getting together for some good causes.
Good times and good food
We had our very first Valentine’s Pancake Breakfast on February 14th at the Delaware Association of Police (DAP), where over 75 people attended and shared some great food prepared by our volunteer chefs Mike, Jeff, and Jon! There were also lots of activities, including making valentines, decorating cupcakes, an awesome K-9 demonstration, and even a very special banner for our Delaware Police Officers to thank them for all they do. We raised approximately $100 in donations for KCA (after all expenses) and $275 for DAP.

Thanks to everyone who helped plan, cook, set up, attend, and clean up! It was such a great example of how our community comes together. Even our local representatives agree: more communities need this type of engagement. If you have not joined us before, join us for a future event!
KCA meets
The first Kiamensi Civic Meeting occurred on Wednesday, February 18th, which was well attended and even ran long due to all the discussion and updates occurring. Here are some highlights but keep an eye out as the meeting minutes will be shared soon.
Highlights:
- KCA Secretary Needed: As a reminder, our secretary needs to step down after 9 years of amazing service to our community. We are looking for someone to come join us as we plan for 2026. The quarterly hourly commitment is approximately 4-6 hours. Check this out for more information: https://kiamensicivic.com/2026-planning-is-in-the-works/
- Snow Removal Update: Thanks to everyone who moved cars off the street to make room for the plows and for those supporting each other with shoveling. We were happy to have the extension on Diamond updated appropriately with our plow company so they were plowed during Winter Storm Hernando.
- Dues Increase and 2026 Collection: At the February 18, 2026 meeting, residents unanimously voted to increase dues to $30 per household ($25 per senior citizen household) based on increased ongoing plowing costs and only 20% resident participation in the 2025 dues collection. This still places Kiamensi much lower than the local average of $40-$100 annually while ensuring we raise enough funds to cover plow expenses for years to come.
- Resident Concerns: If any resident needs to report any known criminal behavior, property maintenance violations, or animal welfare concerns, we ask that you report it immediately to ensure that issues are handled by the appropriate parties and do not become an ongoing nuisance or larger concern.
- NCC Non-Emergency: (302) 573-2800
- Code Enforcement: (302) 395-5555 OR https://www.newcastlede.gov/250/Code-Enforcement-Property-Maintenance
