It is time for decorations to be appearing all over the neighborhood so be sure to register to be included in the annual decorating contest!
The Kiamensi Civic Association Decorating Contest will be held this season on December 23rd to once again coincide with Santa’s visit with Mill Creek Fire Company!
Please read the rules and instructions below for more details. To register, please provide your name and street address by emailing [email protected] or by commenting on the Nextdoor or Facebook posts.
1. Participation is open to all residents within the boundaries of Kiamensi Civic Association.
2. Entry is free, no costs or fees apply.
3. Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior. Judging will be done from outside the residence only.
4. Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore, only those decorations located on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets).
5. Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated residence exterior posted on Nextdoor, Facebook and/or published in the Kiamensi Civic Association website (www.kiamensicivic.com). Participant agrees there will be no compensation of any kind for said posting or publication.
6. Judging criteria will include [a] Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations; [b] Storyline or theme; [c] Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.; and [d] Overall presentation.
7. Judging by our local representatives will be done between 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 23rd. Peoples choice voting will be done via FaceBook based on pictures taken by the KCA and will be posted prior to Christmas for judging.
8. Participants should ensure that all lights, animations and decorations are in place and activated for the judging period.
9. Two prizes will be awarded: The People’s Choice as voted on by KCA Members and one as judged by our local representatives. Each prize is a $50 gift card to Amazon.
10. Winners will be announced on Facebook, Nextdoor and on the Kiamensi Civic Association website (www.kiamensicivic.com) on December 24th.
