Who is involved and What is this ballot?
Residents from your community have proposed a new raised crosswalk on Stanton Road, as a Traffic Calming measure to address speeding and to provide a safe pedestrian crossing.
Why am I receiving this ballot?
DelDOT is conducting this ballot for all residences located to the west of Stanton Road as well as along potential detour routes to measure community support or opposition, and to solicit comments on a proposed raised crosswalk.
How does a DelDOT Traffic Calming ballot work?
DelDOT’s Traffic Calming Program requires at least 15% of distributed ballots to be returned in order for a raised crosswalk to be considered. DelDOT would then approve the raised crosswalk if at least two-thirds (66.6%) of returned ballots are in support. If approved, construction funds will be requested from the sponsoring legislator, and the project will be submitted for construction.
Where would the proposed speed hump be located?
Residents and DelDOT are in general agreement that a raised crosswalk just south of 600 Stanton Road would be proposed for this ballot, as shown on the ballot mailed out to residents.
How do I complete the ballot?
Please indicate your support or opposition to the proposed raised crosswalk by circling “Support Raised Crosswalk” or “Oppose Raised Crosswalk” on the ballot. After making your choice, please scan and email (or take a photo and email) your completed ballot to [email protected].
Please reference “Stanton Road Raised Crosswalk Ballot” in the subject of your email. If you do not have access to email, please return your ballot via mail to: DelDOT Traffic Studies, 169 Brick Store Landing Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
